Inter won for a fourth game running in Serie A thanks to goals from Stefan de Vrij, Nicolo Barella and Joaquin Correa against Sampdoria.
Nicolo Barella maintained his impressive goalscoring form as Inter eased to a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria on Saturday to make it four Serie A wins in a row.
Simone Inzaghi’s side have ended their pre-season struggles and are now seven games unbeaten in all competitions, six of which have ended in victory.
Midfielder Barella completed the first move before half-time to double Inter’s advantage at the San Siro after Stefan de Vrij had opened the scoring with a header.
Inter, who brought on Romelu Lukaku for his first league appearance since August, added another goal thanks to a fine solo effort from Joaquin Correa to seal an emphatic win.
De Vrij sent a bullet past Emil Auder as he played in for his first goal of the season in the 22nd minute after being picked out by Hakan Calhanoglu from a corner.
Inter continued to dominate and got a second goal just before the break when Barella controlled Alessandro Bastoni’s long pass and fired past Auder.
Inzaghi introduced the returning Lukaku and Correa in the second half and it took just five minutes for the latter to add his name to the scoresheet against his former side.
Argentina international Correa carried the ball from one penalty area to the other and curled home a third for the visitors to round off the scoring.
What does it mean? Inter’s good form continues
Less than a month ago, Inzaghi appeared to be under serious pressure as they lost to Udinese and Roma, but his side have since picked up 12 points from their last 12 on offer.
Inter have now won their last six home league games with Sampdoria, their best run since 1984 to 1990, when they also won six in a row.
Sampdoria have won back-to-back games but haven’t really laid a finger on their opponents as their attempts on target have only come after three goals.
