Angel Di Maria has sustained another muscular injury playing for Juventus in the UEFA Champions League against Maccabi Haifa, and it would seem to be his right flexor, which is also worrying for Argentina.

The midfielder was running after a pass in midfield just 24 minutes into the game when he suddenly pulled back and pinched the back of his right thigh.

The 34-year-old immediately turned to the bench and shook his head sadly, knowing full well that it was another muscle strain.

He limped off and was replaced in Israel by Arkadiusz Milik, but the latest injury is another huge blow for Max Allegri.

It’s also worrying for an Argentina team so close to the 2022 World Cup, which is in Qatar in a month.

They already have Paulo Dybala, who could miss the tournament after tearing a thigh muscle in a penalty for Roma on Sunday.

Di Maria was only due to return to Serie A after serving a two-match ban for elbowing Monza defender Armando Izzo.
