Dusan Vlahovic earned Juventus a crucial Derby della Mole win over Torino on Saturday evening.
The Serbian stepped up in the 75th minute to tap home the winner in what was by all accounts a rather poor match.
Despite their ritiro and strong words from club president Andrea Agnelli, Juventus showed no signs of improvement in the first half hour. La Vecchia Signora still lacked any creative quality in the final third – as evidenced by the fact that they failed to get a single shot on goal (off-target) in the opening half hour.
It took Juventus until the 33rd minute to finally create a chance. The chance would fall to Dusan Vlahović who, after being put on goal by Moise Keane, blazed the ball past Koffi Djidji before seeing his goalbound effort well saved by Vanja Milinković-Savić in the Toro goal.
That chance was the only one Allegri’s men created in an extremely tense first half between two not-so-good football teams.
Early in the second half, the visitors forced Milinković-Savić into his second good save of the game – Manuel Locatelli saw his effort from outside the box hit the bar by the Torino goalkeeper.
Kean would then miss a great chance to open the scoring in the 65th minute. The Everton loanee was found completely uncovered eight yards from goal by Filip Kostic, but he could only direct the ball wide of the post. A really bad mistake by all accounts.
Sensing blood after opening Turin once, Juventus pushed forward with real urgency for the next ten minutes. That quest for goal saw Vlahovic force Milinković-Savić into a superb header and culminated in the Serbian striker finding the net in the 75th minute.
Vlahovic was quickest to react at the back post to tap the ball home after Danilo had flicked on Alex Sandro to seal a decisive 1-0 win for his side.
