Four South American countries have confirmed their candidacy for the 2030 World Cup.

Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay submitted bids to host the tournament in seven years.

At an official press conference today in Buenos Aires, the football associations of the four countries announced that they will make a joint bid to host the world’s biggest sporting event.

Uruguay hosted the first ever World Cup in 1930 and sees the tournament’s centenary as a major factor in why they can win the rights this time around.

Although no other official bids have yet been made, there are rumors that Saudi Arabia could compete with the South American nations for the chance to host the second ever Arab World Cup.
