The United States men take the field for their first competitive match of the 2026 World Cup cycle as they travel to Grenada to play a CONCACAF Nations League group stage game.
The USMNT successfully progressed from their group at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but fell to the Netherlands in the Round of 16, unable to win a knockout stage game for yet another tournament.
Head coach Gregg Berhalter saw his contract expire at that point, and his future has yet to be decided. Instead, acting head coach Anthony Hudson remains in charge as U.S. Soccer moves towards a new hire, either Berhalter or someone else.
They now face Grenada, ranked 173rd in the world by the latest official FIFA rankings. They were unbeaten through play in League B in the inaugural Nations League tournament in 2019, which saw them bumped up to League A for this contest. They have just one competitive victory since, a 1-0 win over the U.S. Virgin Islands in the preliminary rounds of World Cup qualifying back in 2021.
Grenada projected starting lineup (5-3-2):
Richardson (GK) — Mark, Harrack, Pierre, Ettienne, James — Theodore, Frank, Paterson — Isaac, J. Charles.
USA projected starting lineup (4-3-3):
Steffen (GK) — Dest, Robinson, McKenzie, Scally — Musah, de la Torre, Mihailovic — Aaronson, Dike, Zendejas.
