Liverpool vs Fulham: Why was the Premier League game postponed today?

Liverpool have been handed an extended break with their Premier League game against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday postponed.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur after slipping to a poor 1-0 loss at Bournemouth last weekend.

And that gap could be stretched to nine points by the time they return to action with a trip to title-challenging Manchester City on Saturday, April 1.

That’s because Spurs do play on Saturday when they travel to relegation-threatened Southampton. Liverpool were supposed to be hosting Fulham, who earned a 2-2 draw when the sides met on the opening day of the campaign back in August.

But the game was postponed – and has yet to be rearranged – after the Cottagers qualified for the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Fulham won 2-0 at home to Premier League rivals Leeds United last month to set-up another all-top-flight clash away to Manchester on Sunday (4.30pm). The winners will progress to the Wembley semi-finals.

After this weekend teams in the Premier League will have a two-week hiatus because of the final international break of the season.
