Atlanta United made it four games without defeat and moved up to third in the East, albeit following a fortunate late own goal.

Atlanta United moved up to third in the MLS Eastern Conference after Maren Haile-Selassie’s 99th-minute own goal helped them to a 2-1 home win over Chicago Fire on Sunday.

Chicago thought they had salvaged a point before substitute Kacper Przybylk struck in the 90th minute, but drama was to follow in the final minute of nine minutes of stoppage time.

Machop Chol headed in Brooks Lennon’s corner, Juanjo Purat’s poke bounced off Haile-Selassie’s back and dribbled over the goal line. The win extended Atlanta’s unbeaten streak to four games.

Georgios Giakoumakis gave Atlanta the lead in the 13th minute when he tapped in from Lennon’s cross.

But Chicago leveled the match after Przybylk’s strike after his initial effort was thwarted, only for the home side to find a late winner.
