Juventus will move up to third in Serie A after their appeal against a 15-point deduction proved successful… for now.

Juventus’ 15-point deduction has been suspended, but Fabio Paratici has had his ban from football upheld.

Serie A giants Juve were punished in January following a capital gains investigation, with the club found guilty of alleged breaches in relation to historic transfers.

Former chairman Andrea Agnelli, former director Pavel Nedvěd and chief executive Fabio Paratici, who joined Tottenham in 2021, have been banned from football by the Italian Football Federation (FICG), along with eight others.

However, Juve’s original request to cancel the deduction proved successful and the Collegio di Garanzia referred the case back to the FIGC.

That will see the Bianconeri move up to third in Serie A, back into the UEFA Champions League, although the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal must review the case, meaning Juve could still face punishment.

While Nedved, along with some other former Juve board members, were cleared, Paratici and Agnelli were suspended.

It’s bad news for Tottenham as FIFA extended Paratici’s 30-month ban from Italian football worldwide in March.

Paratici has stepped down from his duties with Spurs, although he has not officially left the club.

The news came ahead of Juve’s Europa League clash with Sporting CP on Thursday, while Massimiliano Allegri’s side face Serie A leaders Napoli on Sunday.
