Alexis Mac Allister have signed with Liverpool and he will wear the number 10 shirt.
Mac Allister put pen to paper and left Brighton for Anfield. The club announced the signing of the World Cup winner on Thursday as Mac Allister joins them until June 2028.
The Argentine joined them after spending three and a half seasons at Brighton, joining them from Argentinos Juniors in January 2019. He played a total of 112 games for Brighton, scoring 20 times.
With Argentina’s national team, Mac Allister was part of the 2022 World Cup winning team and scored an assist in the final. In an interview with Liverpool’s official website, here is what Mac Allister had to say about joining the club:
“It’s amazing.” It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I wanted to be in [since] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.
“It’s been a fantastic year for me – the World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better person every day.
“Ever since I won the World Cup I said I want to win more trophies and I think this club will help me do that – that’s the goal and when you’re at a big club like this you have to win trophies. So, that’s what I want.
“Since I’ve come here, I’ve seen how big this club is – the players we have, the staff, everyone. I’m really happy and looking forward to playing for this club.”
While Liverpool did not disclose the transfer fee, it is believed to be in the region of £35m.
