Pep Guardiola and his squad paraded their newly-acquired Champions League trophy alongside the Premier League and FA Cup.

Sleep-deprived Manchester City winger Jack Grealish admits he had “the best day and night” as the club celebrated their Champions League treble.

Not even the typical Manchester downpour and a passing lightning storm could spoil the mood as Pep Guardiola and his team showed off their newly acquired European Cup along with the Premier League trophy and the FA Cup.

City returned from Istanbul on Sunday afternoon and it was one long party – the celebrations were set to continue for a while as Grealish overheard striker Erling Haaland’s question: “Shall we have it?” on their one-mile tour around the city centre.

Haaland’s response was to empty a bottle of champagne over the £100million signing, who later told a large crowd gathered in St Peter’s Square: “I’ve had the best day and night in the last 24 hours. To be fair, I don’t think I slept at all.”

The players arrived for their procession on the Metrolink tram from the Etihad Stadium, but the weather somewhat delayed proceedings.

Fans had expected to be allowed into the fanzone in front of the stage at 5pm, but due to the threat of lighting storms that was pushed back 90 minutes.

The rain started shortly after 6pm, delaying kick-off by 40 minutes as a result, but that did not deter the fans who came out in their droves to cheer on the City team and manager Guardiola, all wearing matching Treble winners. ‘ T-shirts.

Halfway through, those now-soaked shirts began to fade as 52-goal City striker Haaland threw his into the crowd and arrived on stage with the rest of the team 45 minutes later than expected, still topless.

“We had to be the best show in this rain, otherwise it’s not Manchester,” Guardiola said to the delight of the waiting crowd.

“We don’t want sunshine, we want rain, so it was perfect. They (the fans) are used to rain.”
