Newcastle United have reportedly offered Barcelona the chance to sign Bruno Guimaraes, but only if they can get Raphinha in return.
The Magpies are believed to be keen on signing Raphinha as Eddie Howe looks to strengthen his front line.
Howe is also reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.
The signing of Raphinha would be spectacular for Newcastle, who are preparing for a return to the UEFA Champions League, but the player himself recently said he will not be on the move this summer.
Amid interest from the Geordies and Arsenal, the former Leeds United star said: “I’m going to stay at Barca next season, the season after that and the season after that, I’m under contract for many years and hopefully I’ll see those years out. many other.
“Barcelona is a city I love, we Brazilians are very happy here.”
In May, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero said Newcastle had made an €80m bid to sign Raphinha as Howe wanted to make his intentions clear ahead of the summer transfer window.
And Romero has now announced that Newcastle have made a very interesting offer to lure Barcelona into selling.
He says the Magpies have offered their star man, Bruno Guimaraes, an extra €30m for his Brazilian team-mate.
Guimaraes has been Newcastle’s best player since joining from Lyon in January 2022.
He was instrumental in their fourth-place finish in the Premier League in 2022/23 and Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all registered interest in his signature.
A report last month said Liverpool had opened talks to sign Guimaraes, although the player’s priority has always been to sign a new contract at St James’ Park.
This claim by Romero is very bold. From the outside looking in you have to say there is no chance Newcastle made that offer.
Of course, Howe wants to sign a player of Raphinh’s quality, but he would not sacrifice someone so important to the Barca man.
If this is true, there will be riots in the North East.
