Neymar has posted a farewell message to close friend Lionel Messi after the latter played his final game for Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi will leave PSG this summer after two years in the French capital and has a huge offer on the table from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, but Barcelona remain determined to make a bid for the World Cup winners once their financial plan is approved by La. League.
Either way, this is the second time that close friends Messi and Neymar have parted ways, with the Brazilian international having a love message for Messi after PSG’s season ended.
“Brother…it didn’t turn out the way we thought but we tried everything,” Neymar wrote on Instagram. “It has been a pleasure to share the next two years with you.
“Good luck in the new stage and be happy. I love you.”
Messi wants to return to Barcelona this summer, but the La Liga side are not yet in a position to make him a formal offer. They have exceeded their salary cap and must prove to league officials that they can return and abide by the rules before they are allowed to sign new players.
Barcelona are aided by the departures of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, while Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati face uncertain futures as Barcelona look to raise the cash needed for another major spending spree.
As for PSG, the Ligue 1 champions must find a way to replace Messi and are known admirers of Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, but Barcelona are also keen to lure the Portugal international to the Camp Nou.
