The U.S. national team and Mexico will renew their heated rivalry this summer when the two nations square off in the 2022/23 CONCACAF Nations League semifinals.
The match, which will be held in Las Vegas, will determine which team advances to the finals of the competition. There they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Canada and Panama.
The USMNT are the defending CONCACAF Nations League champions, having defeated Mexico in the 2021 match. In that match, it was Christian Pulisic’s overtime penalty that sent the United States home with the silverware with a 3-2 win.
Mexico will be looking for revenge, having failed to beat the USA in each of their last four matches. El Tri also have something to prove to their own fans after suffering a group stage exit from the 2022 World Cup and progressing to the semi-finals of the Nations League after a 2-2 draw with Jamaica.
The USA coach will be BJ Callaghan, who was hired to replace the departing Anthony Hudson as interim manager. US Soccer will likely get a new permanent manager this summer, but that decision won’t be made in time to affect the game.

The United States and Mexico will clash in the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League semifinals.
The Nations League does not have a draw for its semifinals and finals, instead seeding its final four participants by group stage finish. The U.S. finished with 10 points, which was the joint-most of anyone in group stage play, and the Americans held a superior goal differential compared to Panama. Mexico, meanwhile, finished with eight points, the lowest of any group winner.
That means the USMNT, as the highest seed, will play Mexico, as the lowest seed, while leaving Canada to play Panama in the other semifinal. Both semifinals and the final will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
