Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that the Saudi Pro League is ‘much better’ than the Major League Soccer in a recent interview.
The forward’s comments came just a day after his arch-rival Lionel Messi was unveiled as a new Inter Miami player.
The World Cup winner was presented with his new club shirt during an unveiling ceremony on Sunday after opting to join the MLS outfit in a highly lucrative deal this summer.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo mutually terminated his contract with Manchester United in January to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
Many other high-profile players, including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly, have since followed the Portuguese star to the Saudi league.
When asked about moving to the United States like Messi, Ronaldo said that the Pro League is better than MLS and that he has no plans to move there.
“The Saudi league is better than MLS,” he said (according to Diario Ole).
“I am 100% sure that I will not return to any European club. I opened the way to the Saudi league and now all the players are coming here.”
Saudi Arabian league clubs have been very ambitious in this transfer window.
They have already signed some of football’s biggest names, including Benzema, Kante, Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Marcel Brozovic and Roberto Firmino.
But surprisingly even young players like Ruben Neves and Jota decided to move to the Middle Eastern country.
The Saudi clubs are not done yet as Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez also looks set to join Al-Ahli.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min recently revealed that he turned down an offer from the Pro League as he still wants to play in the Premier League.
