Alba joins former Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets at the MLS side.
Inter Miami have completed the signing of Jordi Alba on the eve of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets’ expected debuts for the ambitious MLS side.
The Florida club, founded in 2018 and co-owned by David Beckham, is swinging for the fences at a time when it has the worst record in the league.
Miami recently completed the signing of game-changing seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi and introduced him to a packed crowd at DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday.
The Herons also featured Busquets that night, fresh from the Barcelona giants who completed his own move to South Beach.
The pair are expected to make their much-anticipated debuts from the bench in Friday’s League Cup clash against Mexico’s Cruz Azul.
Messi and Busquets have now been joined by another former Barcelona star, Alba linking up with the pair and their former boss Tata Martin in Miami.
The 34-year-old left-back ended his long-term relationship with the Catalans in the summer and joined the team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Alba has signed a contract until the 2024 MLS season, with the club holding an option for a 2025 campaign.
Inter’s Chief Football Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson said: “Jordi is a complete, dynamic and experienced player who we are delighted to sign to continue to strengthen our squad.
“For more than a decade, he has proven to be one of the best fullbacks in the sport both with his defensive fortitude and his ability to contribute offensively.
“We know he will help Inter Miami achieve the club’s goals this season and beyond.”
