The soap opera of Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid refuses to die down. It has been weeks since the Frenchman announced his intention to part ways with the club in 2024, but no concrete development has taken place since.
The long-awaited move appeared to be on the verge of happening last month, with Real Madrid even willing to offer over €150 million for his immediate inclusion. However, things took a drastic turn when the player insisted on seeing out his contract and collecting his promised salary for next season.
Reports last week brought a new development that the Parisiens are open to offering Mbappe a unique contract. Said proposal would extend him for two to three seasons, but with an obligation to sell him in the summer of 2024.
According to Rodrigo Faez reports, the Frenchman has refused to sign any extension with PSG. He wants to join Real Madrid in the summer and is now hoping to reach an agreement with his club so that a move to Los Blancos can gain momentum.
This will come as a huge relief for both parties involved as it clears all the hurdles in his transfer saga.
From PSG’s point of view, they will finally be able to recoup the money from his departure and no longer risk losing him on a free transfer. It’s still unclear whether he’d be willing to give up the bonus he’s owed next year.
At the same time, there is also relief in Madrid. With Mbappe pushing to sign this summer, the Merengues will have their new marquee forward for the 2023-24 campaign and save themselves the signing bonus that would be expected if he joined next summer.
One hopes that the coming days will be decisive for Mbappe’s future. With a strong player stance, this could finally mark the end of the seemingly endless saga.
