Liverpool sign Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig in £60million deal.
Liverpool have completed the £60m signing of midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig on a work permit condition.
The PA news agency understands that the 22-year-old Hungary international has signed a five-year deal with the Reds.
Szoboszlai is Liverpool’s second summer signing to bolster their midfield following the £35m arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, with Jurgen Klopp eyeing the former Red Bull Salzburg star as a similar all-rounder who offers tactical flexibility.
With Liverpool speaking to the player’s representatives earlier this week, the move progressed quickly and a last-minute release clause triggered by the Reds expired on Friday.
Szoboszlai was seen as a more viable alternative to Chelsea’s Mason Mount, who they were interested in as he entered the final 12 months of his contract, but it turned out to be a more expensive option that involved less straightforward negotiations.
