Thiago Silva has admitted he asked Paul Dybala to join Chelsea after reports linked the striker with a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine World Cup winner has recently been linked in the Italian press with a move to Chelsea this summer, with the player reportedly having a €12m release clause in his contract at current club AS Roma.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia about the rumors during the F1 race at Silverstone, Chelsea captain Thiago Silva admitted he had asked Dybala if he would join the Blues, saying: “I’ve seen Paul Dybala here, [the media] are talking about him coming. to Chelsea. I talked to him and asked him if he was coming.
“He’s a world-class player. I’d love to play him and he’d be a massive signing. We’ll see.”
Dybala joined Roma last season after his contract at Juventus expired but has been plagued by injuries ever since.
The striker missed 18 games with various ailments during the 2022/23 season, but managed to score 18 goals and provide seven assists in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side – including one when not fully fit in the UEFA Europa League final.
Asked by the Italian press at the airport on Saturday, Roma manager Jose Mourinho was asked about reports that Dybala could be on his way to Chelsea: “I don’t know about his contract,” Moruinho said. “But of course I talk to Paul like I do to all my players.
Chelsea have already been active in the transfer window this summer, signing strikers Christopher Nkunka and Nicolas Jackson for a combined €87 million.
