Ángel Di María scored in the Portuguese Super Cup for Benfica in a 2-0 win against FC Porto.
Di María is the man for all finals. After scoring in three consecutive finals for Argentina, including the World Cup final, he scored once more in a big game. The 35-year-old scored Cândido de Oliveira’s first Supertaça goal against Porto in the win.
The Argentine received the ball on the edge of the penalty area and curled one into the bottom corner to give Benfica a 1-0 lead. At 2-0 down and late in injury time, he was substituted to much applause from the Benfica fans.
Nicolás Otamendi lifted the trophy for Benfica as club captain and helped them to a clean sheet.
