Mohamed Salah could “leave Liverpool this week” for Saudi Arabia, according to a fresh report – but Jurgen Klopp and the club are adamant he will stay put.

The Reds are clear about their stance on the Egyptian staying in L4 this summer. Salah is chasing a number of records at Anfield after already beating icons in Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard to the accolade.

Already this summer, teams from the Gulf state have descended and Klopp has been forced to part with stalwart midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. Midfield was an area for improvement for the Reds boss at the start of the summer and the German moved to bolster his options at the start of the window.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo are the fresh faces of the Kop-loving team this season. Even with speculation swirling around Salah, Liverpool must move quickly if they want to add another.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is “likely” to leave the Reds this week, according to former footballer Jan Aage Fjørtoft – claiming an “unbelievable” offer is on the table.

The UK transfer window closes on Friday as clubs face a race to land players. Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad have been fiercely linked with an interest in the Egyptian and are said to be considering a €150m fee for the striker. Saudi Arabian teams have until September 7th to conduct their incoming trades.

The tweet from the football pundit doesn’t quite indicate where the proposed destination will be. Fjørtoft said: “I understand that it is likely that Salah will leave Liverpool this week.”

In a follow-up message, he added: “The money being offered to A club players is simply unbelievable. The fact that the transfer window in Saudi Arabia ends on the 7th of September (as stated on the Saudi – FA website – other places even say the 20th) also complicates it” .

However, during a recent period of claims, Liverpool reaffirmed that Salah is not for sale.

“Mo is a super experienced player and he is 100% committed to us here, to the club,” Klopp said last week. “No, I don’t care about that to be honest [Salah’s focus].
