PFA Announced 2022/23 Players Player of the Year nominees

The PFA have Revealed the six nominees for the 2022/23 Players’ Player of the Year award.

Erling Haaland is one of three members of Manchester City’s three-time squad to be nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA )Player of the Year award.

The 23-year-old Norwegian striker was a sensation in his debut season in English football, scoring 52 goals in all competitions as Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

Haaland is joined by Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and England international John Stones in the six-man shortlist.

The Barnsley-born 29-year-old was a revelation when Guardiola pushed him from defense to midfield last season.

Arsenal were City’s closest challengers in the Premier League last term and the list also includes two of their star performers, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

England winger Saka enjoyed his best season to date, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists for the Gunners.

Norway international Odegaard led by example as Arsenal captain, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists.

The only player on the list outside the top two Premier League players in 2022-23 was Harry Kane.

The England captain, who has since completed a summer move to German champions Bayern Munich, scored a club-best 30 goals for Tottenham last season, second only to Haaland who scored 36.
