Al-Hilal are looking to get their 2023-24 Saudi Pro League season off to a winning start when they travel to the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium to face Abha on Monday night.
The visitors come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw in a friendly with Iranian side Sepahan SC, while the visitors suffered a 2-1 defeat in the Arab Club Champions Cup final.
It has to be said that Abha had a poor season last season, finishing 12th, three places below where they finished the previous campaign.
Their poor performance last season saw them part ways with their previous manager, with Czeslaw Michniewicz taking over the role in June, although he failed to make a significant impact and lost five of the seven matches he was in charge of.
Over the course of the season, Abha managed a total of 35 points, just two better than relegated Al-Faisal, and recorded just nine wins, eight draws and 13 losses in their 30 matches.
While their overall record for the season was impressive, of the nine wins they managed last season, seven came at home, the sixth best of any side in the league.
