Brighton & Hove Albion host Rayo Vallecano at the Falmer Stadium on Sunday in their final friendly of the summer, with the Premier League set to return next weekend.

The Seagulls managed to stay in the top division for the seventh consecutive year and enjoyed a successful campaign last time out, finishing in the European places.

With 62 points from 38 games, the southern side finished sixth and qualified for the group stage of the Europa League, their first ever qualification in a major European competition.

Roberto Di Zerbi’s side have been gearing up for a big season over the summer, with several warm-up games ahead of them, but have lost twice in three games.

Brighton beat Chelsea 4-3 in a thrilling encounter and beat Brentford 2-0 in another. The Seagulls lost 2-1 to Newcastle United in their last game of the Premier League summer series.

On the other hand, Rayo Vallecano managed to stay in La Liga for the third consecutive year after reaching 11th place with 49 points from 38 games.

The Red Sashes have been preparing for the next season in the top flight with friendly matches, having played four so far. In their last before the start of the 2023-24 La Liga season in Almeria next Friday, Vallecano will be hoping to end on a winning note.
