Brazil will bid to return to winning ways in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers when they take on Uruguay in Montevideo on Wednesday night. The visitors go into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Venezuela, while Uruguay last shared the points when they drew 2-2 with Colombia in Barranquilla.
The Sky Blues were a disappointment in Qatar 2022, failing to make it past the group stage for the first time since 2002. Marcelo Bielsa’s side won one, drew one and lost one of their three in 2026. World Cup qualification so far, with a total of four points in fourth place in the table, five behind leaders Argentina and three behind second-placed Brazil ahead of the next set of matches.
Uruguay reported no new injury concerns from the draw with Colombia.
As for Brazil, Casemiro was forced off against Venezuela, meaning the Man United midfielder is a major doubt against Uruguay. Brazil coach Diniz said the 31-year-old suffered an “ankle injury” during the competition, so it would be a surprise to see him involved here.
