Two emotional late goals from Luis Díaz saw Colombia come from behind to beat Brazil.
Brazil started exactly as they were looking for, grabbing the lead through Gabriel Martinelli, who slid in a Vinicius Junior cross inside five minutes to stun the home crowd.
The visitors pushed for a second goal after the break as Colombia held on to keep the tie level.
Raphina had the best chance on the edge of the box, but his screeching effort flew just wide of the post and sent gasps all over the stadium.
The last 20 minutes were all about Luis Díaz. The Liverpool player created a flurry of chances himself before finally slotting a header into the back of the net to level the scores for the visitors.
Amazingly, Díaz reappeared in the box less than four minutes later and headed home another strike for Colombia to take the lead in dramatic fashion.
The stunning win sees Colombia leapfrog Brazil into third place.
Brazil Player Rating
Alisson (8/10): He made a number of important saves in Ederson’s absence. I couldn’t do anything about Diaz’s goals. Without him it could have been 4:1.
Emerson (5/10): Because Diaz had a rough night and didn’t offer much at the ball either.
Marquinhos (5/10): Won by Diaz for second Colombia and a little unsure on the ball. Not his best night.
Gabriel (6/10): He did all the defensive things well and was the most composed of the Selecao’s centre-backs. Renan Lodi (4/10):
He lacked legs at right-back and was off the pace for most of the action. It’s a really weak spot.
Andrew (6/10): Some of his defensive work was excellent. I made a crucial block on Diaz in the first half and made some early saves.
Bruno Guimaraes (5/10): Mixed performance. He carried the ball well at times but did not cover enough space in the middle of the park.
Rodrygo (5/10): Sometimes really bright. Linked the play effectively and tried to go after the goal. But he wasn’t clinical or penetrating enough. He’s going to have to speed up now.
Vinicius Jr (6/10): Assisted the opener and was at his best for 25 minutes. He then left the game with a leg injury – a concern for Real Madrid.
Gabriel Martinelli (7/10): He took his goal well and was a constant threat on the wing. You’d think there would be a lot more goals scored in Brazil.
Raphinha (4/10): He shot just wide in the second half. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter much.
