Girona will test their title aspirations when they make the short trip south to Barcelona in a key La Liga fixture.
Girona, bought by City Football Group in 2017, have never finished above 10th in Spain’s top flight but were level on points with league leaders Real Madrid heading into this final weekend of action.
Barcelona lurk four points further back in third and could pull within striking distance and hope a win here puts Girona in their place. The Blanquivermells lost 3-0 to Madrid earlier this season and defeat to Barcelona could force them to reassess their goals for the campaign. However, if they manage to grab the points from this match, a shock title charge could still be within reach.
However, the Blaugrana need all three points to keep the pressure on the leaders and restore some further confidence in their title defense after last time’s win over Atletico Madrid.
