Saturday’s Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin has been postponed due to heavy snowfall in Munich, Bayern said in a statement.
“We are very sorry to have to cancel the match, but the safety of our fans and supporters of Union Berlin is an absolute priority,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
Munich Airport suspended hundreds of flights and long-distance trains to and from Munich were canceled as snowfall hit many parts of southern Germany.
Several roads around Bayern’s home stadium were closed, he said, adding: “We will inform you as soon as possible of a possible new date.”
Both teams have other games next Saturday as second-placed Bayern visit Eintracht Frankfurt while bottom side Union Berlin host Monchengladbach.
