Pep Guardiola sets sights on Club World Cup

Manchester City had a forgettable end of the year in the Premier League, winning just 1 of their last 5 games. City have dropped to fifth, now eight points behind league leaders Liverpool.

December wasn’t too bad as Josep Guardiola’s side won the Club World Cup thanks to a fantastic performance from Julián Álvarez, who won every championship imaginable at the age of 23.

We now look to get things back on track in the Premier League, with City having a game against Everton on Wednesday night and Sheffield United on Saturday to close out 2023.

Pep Guardiola on Haaland and De Bruyne

In a pre-match press conference against Everton, the Manchester City boss gave an update on two of his star players: “Haaland is feeling better but he hasn’t had a single training session with us. I hope he will come back to us in January.”

“De Bruyne trained with us last week, he was a bit tired today because he is training hard.

Kevin De Bruyne has been out for most of the season with a muscle injury and is now working his way back to full fitness.

Erling Haaland has missed four games with a leg injury, again missing Wednesday’s league game against Everton.

Manchester City will have a big end to the season as the club look to repeat in the UEFA Champions League when they open their knockout campaign against FC. February in Copenhagen.
