The Africa Cup of Nations once again brings together the best African players from the best clubs around the world for the continent’s international championship.
The 2023 tournament, which is played every two years, was pushed back to early 2024 due to schedule delays dating back to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players in European clubs are thus in the middle of league seasons, which could mean an interesting competition.
The Africa Cup of Nations is traditionally a low-scoring affair, with just 100 goals in 52 matches in 2021, an average of less than two goals per game.
So finding the best goalscorer is a difficult task as we know that one big game can set a player up well to eventually win the Golden Boot award.
