Premier League leaders Liverpool return to action when they travel to Bournemouth on January 21.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been enjoying a mid-season break since January 10 following an FA Cup victory over Arsenal and an EFL Cup semi-final first-leg win against Fulham.

Liverpool currently hold a two-point lead over second-placed Manchester City as they return to the day-to-day work of a packed domestic calendar in the coming weeks.

Team news

With Bournemouth having made it four wins from five Premier League games before the break, Andoni Iraola is unlikely to make too many changes, with Marco Senesi serving a one-match ban.

Chris Mepham should replace Senesi in defense with Phillip Billing pushing for a recall in midfield.

Liverpool’s injury list is showing signs of recovery, with Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas and Trent Alexander-Arnold close to returning. Midfield star Domink Szoboszlai is yet to return from a thigh strain.

Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo are still away on international duty with Egypt and Japan, with the former picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Ghana on 18 January.

Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Neto (GK) — Smith, Zabarnyi, Mepham, Ouattara — Billing, Cook — Christie, Tavernier, Sinisterra — Solanke.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson (GK) — Bradley, Konate, van Dijk, Gomez — Elliott, Mac Allister, Jones — Jota, Nunez, Diaz.
