Manchester City and Brazil goalkeeper Ederson has won the 2023 FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper Award after his treble season at club level.
The Cityzens stopper was their number one as Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
Ederson won the trophy for the first time in his career, having previously finished third in 2019. Somewhat strangely, it was Thibaut Courtois who was named in the 2023 FIFA FIFPRO World Men’s XI instead.
Real Madrid star Courtois has been shortlisted for the award along with Al Hilal and Morocco goalkeeper Yassin Bounou.
At the awards ceremony in London, Ederson said: “Thanks to my family. My wife and my children. They are very important to me. Thank you to the players. It’s been a great year.”
