The most successful African Cup of Nations team, Egypt, have announced their final squad for the upcoming tournament in Ivory Coast.
Vitoria announced a 55-man preliminary squad earlier this month, and while the final squad includes many familiar faces, it also saw the exclusion of many players, such as Al Ahly duo Yasser Ibrahim and Hussein El-Shahat, while Pyramids trio Osama Galal, Ali Gabr and Ahmed Samy they interrupted Egypt’s bid for the 8th continental crown.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will be the team leader. The King of Egypt played for his nation in three AFCONs and the team finished as runners-up twice. Liverpool confirmed in a club statement on Friday that Salah will miss the FA Cup third-round tie at Arsenal on January 7.
The list included seven Al Ahly players, three Zamalek players, six Pyramids players and eight foreign players.
