The Portuguese International Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a public apology after his injury led to the cancellation of Al-Nassr’s two-match tour of China.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently nursing a muscle complaint that will prevent him from taking part in the matches against Shanghai Shenhua and Zheijang.

As a result, with the 5th-time Ballon d’Or winner unable to showcase his skills in front of his devoted fan base, the decision was taken to temporarily postpone the friendlies and reschedule them to a later date.

Al Nassr’s China tour cancelled due to Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury

There are reports that Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored an impressive 54 goals in 2023 while playing for Al-Nassr and Portugal, could be sidelined for a few weeks. If this turns out to be true, it raises the possibility that he will miss out on a much-anticipated meeting with Lionel Messi when Inter Miami travel to Saudi Arabia for the Riyadh Cup.

For now, Cristiano Ronaldo said of the unfortunate events in the Far East: “As you know, in football you cannot control some things. I have played football for 22 years and I am a player who does not have too many injuries. So I’m really sad because Al-Nassr and I came to China to enjoy the tour. I have been going to China since 2003/2004, so I feel at home here – my second home.

“I felt that I was always special here. I feel sad. I know you are also sad, especially people who love Cristiano, but we have to see the good side. We did not cancel the match, we want to push for the match and come back here. We will come back se. Unfortunately, I have a problem but this is part of football and my life. I am here, I am with the fans, I am with the Chinese people and we will continue here. We see beyond the people who are with us. We are sad because we knew that it can happen. We will come back to make the Chinese people happy, that’s my goal. I want to play for you. Don’t be sad because I’m sad and I hope you understand the circumstances of a footballer.”

Al-Nassr are currently on a mid-season break, giving them the opportunity to travel to China. However, adjustments to their plans are necessary. They are scheduled to face Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on February 1, followed by a game against Al-Hilal a week later. The team will then continue their competitive action in the AFC Champions League against Al Feiha on February 14.
