Barcelona will host Granada in La Liga action on February 11, with Xavi Hernandez still on the fringes of the title race this season.

Xavi’s shock decision to announce his intention to leave the club this summer is still a major talking point in Catalonia ahead of a busy run of fixtures and a return to the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid and Girona are in contention for the title as it is, but Barcelona could see a late surge if their rivals drop points in the coming weeks.

Team news

Xavi will be without teenage star Vitor Roque after the Brazilian was sent off in last weekend’s 3-1 win at Alaves, which saw Joao Felix and Ferran Torres ruled out through injury.

Ilkay Gundogan is expected to be fit in time to start alongside the possible recalls of Inigo Martinez and Oriol Romeu.

Granada drew 1-1 at home against Las Palmas last time out and the visitors will be missing Kamil Piątkowski and Gonzalo Villar due to suspension.

Barcelona (4-3-3): Pena (GK) — Kounde, Christensen, Araujo, Cancelo — de Jong, Romeu, Gundogan — Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski, Pedri.

Alaves (4-2-3-1): Sivera (GK) — Parada, Marin, Duarte, Lopez — Blanco, Guevara — Vicente, Guridi, Rioja — Omorodion.
