New images of the Barcelona 2024/25 home kit by Nike have leaked online, with the Catalan giants set to pay tribute to one of their most popular strips of years gone by.
Barcelona will celebrate their 125th anniversary in November and next season’s kit will resemble the 100 year anniversary kit from the 1998/99 season.
The ever-reliable Footy Headlines have obtained images of the 2024/25 Barcelona home kit, which will ditch the stripes and return to red and blue halves and alternating sleeves. Just like the popular 1998/99 kit, it will be highlighted by dark blue piping, while sponsor logos Nike and Spotify will be in gold.
Barcelona has announced that it will use a special logo to celebrate its 125th anniversary. This will take the usual place of the regular crest on the shirt – although the variant has yet to be confirmed by the club – with the normal badge shifted centrally to sit evenly across the red and blue halves.
Nike face a battle to keep Barcelona as a partner, while La Blaugrana seek a more lucrative kit contract. Puma have been tipped to rival Nike for the Barca deal, with the club also set to become one of the first major clubs to produce their own kits.
This is despite a UEFA report last week which confirmed Barcelona made £153m from merchandise sales over the past year – more than any other club in Europe.
Nike became Barcelona’s kit supplier in 1998, with their first strip marking their 100-year anniversary. The only other manufacturers in the club’s history were Meyba (1982-1992) and Kappa (1992-1998).
