La Liga president Javier Tebas believes the chances of Kylian Mbappe signing for Real Madrid are growing every day and has backed the Spanish giants to complete more transfers this summer.
Mbappe again has the last six months of his contract and Kylian Madrid are working to try and land the biggest free transfer in history, although a move away would not leave current club Paris Saint-Germain out of pocket due to the agreement between Kylian Mbappe and the club. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Tebas believed Madrid had a 50% chance of signing Kylian Mbappe when he was approached in January, but he insisted the odds have increased since then, speaking to Fabrizio Romano.
“I said a few weeks ago it was around 50%, now it’s even more,” he said, adding that the number is now closer to 55% or 60%. “Every day that passes without Mbappe signing a new contract with PSG, the percentage increases.”
Despite the apparent enormity of Kylian Mbappe’s wages and any signing bonus, Tebas believes Madrid’s finances are strong enough to bring in other signings as well. Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is on the radar, while reports list Lille centre-back Leny Yor and even Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as potential targets.
“Alphonso Davies and others? I don’t know the cost of the Kylian Mbappe deal, but in any case Real have an excellent financial situation,” he said. “They have never done crazy things in recent years.
Despite having several targets for the summer, Madrid are currently focused on Kylian Mbappe, who is yet to confirm his decision to Al Khelaifi.
“When we both decide, we will tell you,” the PSG president said of his discussions with Kylian Mbappe.
PSG are hoping to keep hold of Kylian Mbappe but are already looking at potential replacements for the Frenchman, who has agreed to give up almost €80m in loyalty bonuses from his current employers should he leave this summer.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are both on PSG’s shortlist should they need attacking reinforcements this summer.
