PSG take a comfortable lead over Spain after two second-half goals.

The visitors from Spain got off to a quick start when André Silva broke free from PSG’s defense and fired just wide of the post.

However, the home side responded well, getting Kylian Mbappé behind a few minutes later, but the Frenchman saw his effort saved by the strong hand of Álex Remiro.

André Silva was a thorn in PSG’s side throughout the first half, and the striker almost headed into the top corner in the 20th minute.

PSG dodged a bullet in the final minutes of the half when Mikel Merino hit a stunning shot from the edge of the box that rang the crossbar and went behind.

The deadlock was finally broken when Kylian Mbappé raced in at the back post to tap in a cross to give PSG a lead they were potentially lucky to have.

The Parisians backed up their opener just over 10 minutes later when Bradley Barcola struck to ignite the home crowd.

PSG  Player Rating

Gianluigi Donnarumma (6/10): I made a few neat saves and otherwise he was trouble free. I was surprised he had such a quiet night.

Achraf Hakimi (6/10): Offered legs, but not very good quality bottom right. Most of La Real’s threats came from the other wing.

Marquinhos (7/10): Assisted Mbappe’s opener, won his aerial battles and kept the ball moving. A commanding presence.

Danilo Pereira (8/10): He completed all but four of his passes, didn’t lose a 50/50 and looked confident. He could be Marquinhos’ ideal partner.

Lucas Beraldo (7/10): Favored Lucas Hernandez and held down the left effectively. He kept Take Kubo quiet for the most part.

Fabian Ruiz (7/10): Cleaned up on the left side of center field three. Effective connection with Mbappe. Assist on Barcola’s goal. A performance that made a case for more minutes.

Warren Zaire-Emery (6/10): Busy innings in the middle. He didn’t do much in possession but was diligent about his defensive work.

Vitinha (7/10): Lively presence in midfield – especially after the break. He was regularly winning the ball back, doing things in tight spaces.

Ousmane Dembele (5/10): He fired one into the side netting in one of the biggest chances of the first half. It didn’t make much of an impact in 90 disappointing minutes.

Kylian Mbappe (8/10): He missed a good chance early on after sending it on goal. He got PSG’s first clean sheet. A short time later he rattled his stick and whipped one just over. Scary when he’s in that mood.

Bradley Barcola (8/10): Fantastic shift to the left side. He did his defensive work effectively, contested 50/50 and excelled behind the goal. His best game in a PSG shirt.

SUB

Marco Asensio (6/10): He had a couple of attempts at goal and it was flowing at the break.

Lucas Hernandez (5/10): He was tasked with manipulating Cuba – which he did not do very well.

Randal Kolo Muani (6/10):He almost scored a wonderful third.

Man Of The Match – Kylian Mbappe (PSG)
