Inter Miami have reportedly beaten Bayern Munich to sign Federico Redondo from Argentinos Juniors.
Lionel Messi’s Argentine connection at Inter Miami continues to grow, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the MLS club have completed the $8m (£6.3m/€7.4m) signing of Redondo from Argentinos Juniors. The 21-year-old has also been heavily linked with Bayern Munich, but the latter missed out on a potential deal after opting not to formally submit a bid during Europe’s January transfer window.
Who is Federico Redondo?
The 21-year-old is the son of former Real Madrid and AC Milan star Fernando Redondo. After graduating from El Bicho’s youth system, Redondo made his senior debut for the club in 2022. In the 2022–23 season, he appeared in 45 matches across all competitions for his club, scoring twice and providing as many assists.
The youngster should replace compatriot Facundo Farias in The Herons lineup, with the striker currently injured. Redondo will likely fill one of the club’s three U22 spots, meaning only $200,000 of his salary would count toward their overall cap.
Messi and co. will play their final preseason game against eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Newell’s Old Boys on February 16 before kicking off their new MLS season against Real Salt Lake on February 22.
