Two famous old Merseyside clubs are once again experiencing contrasting fortunes in the Premier League. Liverpool are in a strong three-horse title race with Arsenal and Man City and are 2nd on goal difference behind the Arsenal with 10 games remaining after a thrilling 1-1 draw with City at Anfield.
Everton, on the other hand, are battling relegation amid turmoil off the pitch and a failure to win a Premier League game since mid-December. With just one win over their fierce local rivals in nearly 14 years, it’s not a game most fans will be looking forward to, but a surprise result could help boost their survival bid.
The derby at Goodison Park was due to take place on 17 March, but the match was postponed due to the FA Cup quarter-finals taking place on the same weekend.
Why is Everton vs Liverpool postponed?
Everton vs. Liverpool aren’t the only fixture to have been moved due to an FA Cup tie.
The London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea, originally scheduled for March 16, has also been postponed. Manchester United’s home game against league strugglers Sheffield United will also take place later, as will Manchester City’s away game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Six Premier League matches on Matchday 29 were postponed due to FA Cup commitments.
