Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has reportedly agreed verbally for the Canadian star to join Real Madrid.
According to The Athletic, Los Blancos are interested in signing the left-back and aim to complete a move either during the upcoming summer window or in 2025.
Davies’ contract at Bayern runs until 2025 and it has been suggested that discussions have already taken place between the defender and Madrid, with the Spanish giants urging him to hold off on signing an extension with the Bundesliga champions.
Davies spent six years in Germany after leaving the Vancouver Whitecaps as a teenager and won every trophy for Bayern, including five Bundesliga titles and the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League. However, now may be the right moment for the 23-year-old to take the next step in his career.
Will Alphonso Davies sign for Real Madrid?
While it is unclear when Davies will sign for Real Madrid, it seems highly likely that he will make the move.
There is interest in the 23-year-old player elsewhere in Europe, and his situation is being monitored by Barcelona in Madrid.
Despite English clubs also monitoring the player, a report from The Athletic states that Davies would prefer to sign for Madrid. It is suggested that he will either move in 2024, in which case the Spanish giants would have to negotiate a transfer fee with Bayern, or wait until he becomes a free agent in 2025.
