The brand new MLS season is upon us and with it comes the opportunity for players to win the Golden Boot award at the end of the season.
The award is given to the player who scored the most goals in the league during the year
Last year, LAFC forward Denis Bouanga won the Golden Boot after scoring 20 goals. He also contributed seven assists, making the Gabonese international the third Black & Gold player to win the award in the past five years, following Diego Rossi in 2020 and Carlos Vela in 2019.
With Lionel Messi now in MLS, he will be the favorite to win the award. However, the competition for 1st place will be tough.
While Messi is often regarded as the greatest player in the game’s history, the United States’ tough domestic season promises a host of challenges, leaving the outcome wide open for any contender to seize.
