Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has been named Major League Soccer  Player of the Month for April 2024.

Lionel Messi played just 4 games and 315 minutes in April, but contributed 10 goals, consisting of six goals and four assists. He recorded at least one goal and as many assists in every game and averaged a goal contribution every 31.5 minutes of action. In April, he was directly involved in 10 of the team’s 12 goals.

The 36-year-old is in fine form and has helped Inter Miami to top the MLS East table for the first time in history, a feat that has lasted over a week.

Lionel Messi became the first player in MLS history to score and assist twice in five consecutive games as Inter Miami beat the New England Revolution 4-1 on April 27. Miami can extend their three-game winning streak and lead the Supporters’ Shield standings when they return home to face the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, May 4.

Even though Lionel Messi has only been in Inter Miami for a year, he has already made MLS history. The Argentine has been destroying everything in his path to start the season and shows no signs of slowing down. Even at the end of his career, he contributes significantly to both scoring and creating goals.
