Endrick played the hero for Brazil, the teenager nodding home a 97th-minute winner for the Selecao to seal a 3-2 victory over Mexico after sloppy defending surrendered a 2-0 lead.
A heavily rotated Brazil side almost fell apart in the second half, conceding twice in the final 20 minutes – including a 93rd-minute equalizer – and looked set to settle for a draw. But Endrick, who came on as a substitute, responded with a neat header to salvage a friendly victory ahead of the Copa America.
Team Dorivala Jr. he didn’t have to take the lead for long, Andreas Pereira weaving his way through Mexico’s defense before finishing into the bottom corner. El Tri had their moments in the first half, forcing Alisson into some smart saves.
But Brazil went ahead by two after the break. A well-placed move got the job done, Yan Cuoto beat his man on the right wing before cutting back to Martinelli – who poked the ball into an open net. However, Mexico pulled one back, Yan Cuoto turning the ball into his own net.
El Tri had a few more chances – but made the most of them. The ball found its way to Guillermo Martinez, who rounded Alisson from a tight angle. Still, there was plenty of time for Endrick to make a difference, the teenager providing the first of what Selecao fans hope will be many big moments in his nation’s colours.
