Argentina Captain Lionel Messi has spoken about playing in the FIFA 2026 World Cup with Argentina.
Lionel Messi will play with the Argentina national team at the 2024 Copa America and is currently training with the team in Inter Miami. In an interview with Pollo Alvarez, Messi commented on winning the World Cup, the Copa America, and his Argentine career. In the same interview, he also talked about playing in the 2026 World Cup. Here’s what he had to say:
“It depends on how I feel, how I am physically, and how realistic I am with myself. Knowing if I’m able to compete and help my teammates, knowing how I’m doing physically.
“There’s still plenty of time left…” a lot and a little” because it’s going fast. But there’s still some time and I don’t know how I’ll be at that moment. Age is also a reality that exists even if it’s just a number.
“The games I will play now are not the same as the ones I played when I was in Europe competing every three days, either in the UEFA Champions League or in the league, whether in France or Spain. But it depends on how I feel and what I feel when I’m with my teammates and see if I’m still at the same level or not… so we’ll see.”
