Barcelona’s Bernal Faces Season-Ending ACL Injury
Barcelona has suffered a significant setback with the potential season-ending injury to young midfielder Marc Bernal. The 17-year-old was forced off the field during the team’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano due to a collision with Isi Palazón.
The 17-year-old was helped from the Vallecas pitch by visiting medical staff who were unable to put any weight on his left leg as he walked through the tunnel after the match.
And now after the match, the worst seems to have been confirmed in Barcelona.
According to a report from Blaugrana insider Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, Bernal suffered a torn ACL:
“Barca’s young midfielder, the sensation of the start of the season for Hansi Flick’s men, has reportedly torn the cruciate ligaments in his left knee, according to sources close to the dressing room.
Official confirmation from Barca itself is yet to come, but an announcement is expected soon.
Bernal, who has started all three of his side’s La Liga games to start the campaign, is therefore unlikely to feature again this season.
