Liverpool Cruise to Victory Over Brentford
Liverpool continued their impressive start to the 2024-25 Premier League season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Brentford at Anfield. The Reds have now won two out of two under new manager Arne Slot.
After winning by the same scoreline at Ipswich Town last week, Slot saw his side dominate most of Sunday’s game to maintain a perfect record to open the 2024-25 Premier League season.
It took just 13 minutes for Sloto to bring his first home game to life – Diogo Jota led a quick counter-attack from a Brentford corner before laying it off for Diaz, who volleyed past Mark Flekken to make his 100th appearance for the Reds in style.
Flekken and Nathan Collins combined to keep Liverpool at bay in the second half, while Brentford – who were again without Ivan Toney – went just wide through Kristoffer Ajer at the other end.
However, Liverpool’s dominance eventually showed when Diaz turned provider for the Reds, expertly heading home Salah with 20 minutes remaining.
Cody Gakpo’s deflected effort hit the crossbar late on as the Reds joined Manchester City, Brighton and Arsenal with two wins from as many games.
