The Brazil international, whose time at the Parc des Princes has been plagued by numerous fitness problems, had to be carried off on a stretcher during his side’s triumph over Lille on Sunday.
Neymar collided with Dogues midfielder Benjamin Andre, twisting his ankle, and was carried off the pitch in tears as PSG cruised to a dramatic 4-3 victory.
The Parisians were affected by injuries the entire season. Almost every key player had to miss time for a physical issue, with the attacker’s issue being probable the most notable one. The Brazilian will not be making the trip to Germany this time.
“Neymar Jr has sustained a number of instances of instability in his right ankle in recent years. Following his latest sprain on 20 February, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity. The surgery will be performed in the next few days at the ASPETAR hospital in Doha. It will take 3 to 4 months before he can return to training with the team”.
