Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman’s desire to finally have Eric Garcia as part of his Barcelona team has been fulfilled this summer as the defender joins the free transfer agent from Manchester City, and is already looking to be part of his new club.
Barcelona lacked confidence back most of last season and it was a place where Ronald Koeman, who was a real defender during his playing days, wished the club could improve.
Last Sunday Eric Garcia game in Barcelona’s first La Liga first home game against Real Sociedad, as he played with Gerard Pique in central defense, a few days after returning from the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Ronald Araujo was expected to start in the middle of the pitch in the match, but Barca boss Koeman opted for his new arrival at Eric Garcia, who also face Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti respectively. Oscar Mingueza is currently injured but will return to the line.
For Ronald Koeman, he believes Eric Garcia and Pedri Gonzales will show more sporting prowess than most of their opponents in the first few weeks of the season after representing Spain this summer at Euro 2020 and at the Olympic Games.
After Barcelona’s first impressive match for the Barcelona shirt, Eric Garcia is determined to build on this and retain his place in the first Eleven.
